How does it work?
Enter the total vacation day entitlement for a calendar year and the first day of employment or start date.
The Accrued Vacation Calculator automatically sets the End Date do December 31 of the same year as the Start Date.
The Start Date is used to estimate two values that are needed for this to work:
- The number of possible work days for the calendar year of the start date. For example if the start date was March 1, 2022, there would have been 260 possible work days in 2022, excluding public holidays.
- The number of work days between the first day of employment and the end of the year. There were a total of 219 work days between March 1, 2022 and December 31, 2022.
With the calculated values for total workdays during the year and work days remaining in the year along with the number of vacation days per calendar year we can use this formula:
Vdays– Total Vacation days earned in a full calendar year
WDt – total work days for a calendar year
WDr – number of work days for the rest of the calendar year
PV – Total Vacation earned until the end of the year
